Port of Spain Campus

OVERVIEW

SBCS Port-of-Spain is pleased to introduce you to a higher level of education in the field of Media & Communications. We aim to ensure that the learning experience at SBCS is a memorable and positive one and we look forward to seeing you on campus.

HISTORY

SBCS' second campus on the outskirts of Port-of-Spain opened its doors for business in May 2003, providing an ideally located training centre for companies and individuals in the capital city and its environs.

We are located at 46-50 Picton Street, where we started off with 5 Computer Labs and 1 Training Room fully outfitted with state of the art equipment. Added to the back of the main building are 4 classrooms, which were used to accommodate Long Programmes, plus a Computer Lab dedicated to the BTEC HND Media students. Directly opposite at 31 Picton Street was our Corporate Training Centre, where we had 4 classrooms, as well as a lunchroom for students, which can dual as a classroom if necessary. We offered Short Programmes - Literacy, MOS, Technical, Graphics, Short Business as well as Corporate Training / Seminars.

In 2005 we were pleased to announce that we were offering Long Programmes which started September / October - ACCA, CAT, UOL: ISM Access Route, ABE: BA Dip1, Edexcel: BTEC HND Media.

In 2006 the campus developed into the Centre for Media Studies (CMS). With the renovations and altering of some of the rooms and labs, the campus is now outfitted with 8 Computer Labs fully equipped with state of the art equipment and 5 Training Rooms along with complete Sound and Television Studios. Media Courses at the Certificate and Higher National Diploma level are being offered along with Short Business and I.T courses.

In January 2010 the launch of the Final Year BA (Hons) Media and Communication in collaboration with the University of Greenwich commenced. Students are able to acquire a BA Honours Degree via the EDEXCEL HND Media and Communications pathway.
