Course Brief

This is the starting point in the IT world.  This course introduces students to the workings of the Windows Operating System, for example, Windows 7, and an introduction to Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a brief history and introduction to the internet.  Students will gain confidence using Office applications and understand features that helps maximize their productivity.

 

Upon completion of this program, students can move on to the Applied IT Training in Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Excel 2016, Microsoft PowerPoint 2016, Microsoft Word 2016 or Microsoft Project 2016 programs.

    This is a collection one day Summer Courses geared towards persons above the age of 14, in the following areas:

    Teamwork is widely proclaimed as a valuable skill set. This course teaches the essential components of teamwork and how to become an effective team member. The development of a productive teamwork mentality is critical for young people; this course will also equip participants with a number of tips and techniques for creating synergy in building and maintaining instrumental relationships as they work with and support team members.

    • Makeup and Image Management
    • Becoming an Entrepreneur - What does it take?

    This course is designed to provide future entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to create, launch and operate a successful small business; from preparing a business plan to launching their venture participants will be taught how to make their business competitive in today’s market.

    • Digital Photography

    This Digital Photography course is designed for persons with basic camera abilities who wish to enhance their skills. Participants will be introduced to the fundamental components of digital photography and its challenges. Exciting practical exercises coupled with engaging theory allows participants to learn and develop their ability to take better pictures as well as deepen technical understanding.

    • Digital Audio Music Production

    This course in digital audio/music production covers the fundamentals of the recording studio environment as well as affordable and easy-to-use digital technologies. This practical programme introduces you to the elements and steps of composing, editing, recording, producing and mastering sound for a variety of purposes and audiences.

    • Defensive Driving

    This course provides participants with the knowledge to take greater responsibility for their driving by focusing on behavior, judgment and decision making. Defensive driving skills can help you to avoid the dangers caused by other people's bad driving as well as teach you strategies to avoid unsafe driving situations.

    • Project and Time Management

    This course was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills for greater effectiveness and productivity in managing priorities and a wide range of tasks. Coursework focuses on the utilisation of proven time management strategies, technology and tools that will enable students to work smarter to get more done with less effort and in less time.

    • Mobile App Development

    This course aims to prepare students to lead in the area of mobile software development by enhancing their critical analytical abilities in this field. Coursework focuses on developing a high level of awareness in the application of relevant technologies used in the design and development of mobile applications using up-to-date software development tools and APIs.

    • Creating and Designing Websites

    This course will introduce students to the fundamental basics of web development through an integrated curriculum covering Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Styles Sheets (CSS) (both of which are web site development languages). Students will learn about the basics of publishing, designing and building usable websites.

    • Get Work Ready - Resume Writing

    This course provides participants with the knowledge to conduct research, format, and write a persuasive resume. By the end of the course, you will be armed with the skills to craft a powerful career marketing tool that will get you selected for competitive interviews.  

    • Graphic Design

    This course provides a basic introduction to the graphic design process, theory and its application. Coursework includes the fundamental design principals and concept development as they relate to typography, composition, and color. Discover what makes the difference between ordinary images and powerful, effective graphics.

    • Event Management

    Although it takes creativity to design an event that is memorable and meaningful, it also takes careful attention to detail, flexibility, effective delegating and a lot of hard work.   This practical course is geared towards teaching students how to plan and successfully execute an event.   Coursework focuses on the many aspects of event management such as risk management, venue management, budgeting and marketing your event.   Essentially, we are creating an effective and well planned design that is ready for implementation and can be used over and over again.

    REGISTRATION INFORMATION

    There is an administration fee of $150 to be paid when registering. The deadline to register is one week before the start date of class after which a late administration fee of $175 will be charged. The credit price will apply if you wish to pay a down payment and installments. The down payment is 60% of the credit price plus the administration fee. The remainder is paid in installments before the end of the course.
