School of Business and Computer Science Ltd. (SBCS) hosted its annual Graduation Celebration on Saturday, April 16th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Over seven hundred proud students earned either a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree from one of SBCS’ four Partner Universities – University of London, University of Greenwich, University of Sunderland and University of Leicester. Graduates of the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University, who graduated in a ceremony held at the Hyatt on 5th February, 2011, were specially noted.  The graduates were congratulated by distinguished representatives from each of the four universities, who came to wish them well and present the message that the graduates now join the elite ranks of the alumni of four world class institutions of higher learning.

Special attention was given to the first cohort of the University of Greenwich BA (Hons) Media and Communication graduates. The present representative from the University of Greenwich Dr. Adel Alev, Head of the Department of Communication and Creative Arts, heartily congratulated these graduates by delivering an emotion-filled speech that highlighted the stellar achievements of this year’s graduates. She said “It gives me particular pride to be here at the graduation of our first BA Media and Communications cohort, a very talented group of young people with three first class honours students, a stellar achievement and a huge source of pride to your teachers and family and all of us at the University of Greenwich. Our media students have gone on to work at internationally recognized organizations like MTV, Sky TV and the BBC…I have no doubt that our Trini graduates will go on to make significant and profound contributions to the media industry in Trinidad and beyond.”

Professor Nigel Spence from the University of London lightened the packed Regency Ballroom with his contribution and congratulatory comments to the graduands. He stated “Emeritus Professor does not mean I’m good, it just means I’m old.”

Dr. Michael Dowlath, Chairman of ACTT, gave a congratulatory message to the 2011 Graduands on behalf of the Honourable Minister Senator Fazal Karim.

Congratulations to the SBCS Class of 2011!
