forced_whitespaceThe BA (Hons) Business Management course allows you to benefit from Sunderland’s teaching of business and management without leaving your home region.

The content of the course mirrors the Sunderland-based equivalent course Business Management. This course builds on your existing knowledge and prepares you for managerial roles and professional roles in sales, finance, general business and the public sector. You will undertake three broad-based modules related to project management, strategic management and the latest developments in business management.

You will also study specialist modules that cover Marketing Strategy, Human Resources and Management Accounting. This course is based at study centres, which makes it distinct from our course with the same title that is based at the University of Sunderland. Courses delivered at study centres share the same ethos, material and approach as those delivered at Sunderland itself.

This course is an outstanding way to gain the benefits of an education from our University without having to move to Sunderland.

Sunderland has a strong record in business and management studies, with The Guardian University Guide 2015 naming the University as No.1 in North East England for Course Satisfaction and Student Satisfaction with Teaching in these subjects.

The BA (Hons) Business Management Top Up Degree programme comprises of six modules and tuition for these are available via both Full-Time and Part Time modes.

Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE)

The tuition is fully funded by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago for this programme.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has restructured the GATE Application process. This new service is referred to as the GATE e-Service, and you are now required to apply for GATE Clearance and GATE Funding electronically.

Following are the steps necessary to access and use this service:

1. Obtain a GATE e-Service ID

2. Apply for GATE at 


GATE e-Service ID

To access this service you must firstly obtain your GATE e-Service ID by providing the required documentation to one of the GATE e-Service Registration Officers stationed at TT Connect Offices throughout Trinidad and Tobago. (only Originals are to be presented):

  •  Electronic Birth Certificate (Mandatory) and
  •  National ID or Passport and
  •  Current and Active Email Address (for correspondence from MOE)

GATE Application

Once you have obtained your GATE e-Service ID, you will then be required to apply for GATE Clearance by visiting the following website:

To apply for GATE Clearance you will be required to upload scanned versions of:

  •  Birth Certificate (mandatory) and
  •  National Identification Card or Trinidad and Tobago Passport
  •  Marriage/Divorce Certificate (for married/divorced student)
  •  Deed Poll (for name change)
  •  Payment Slip (receipt showing proof of payment, for post-graduate student)
  •  Latest Result Slip / Transcript (for continuing student)
  •  Acceptance Letter from Institution (for student pursuing new programme) ( Please ensure that you receive this document on registration with SBCS from your Customer Service Representative)
