Programme Brief

Certified CIW Web Design Professionals must prove their understanding in the areas of website design and e-commerce. They must be able to develop and maintain websites using authoring and scripting languages, create content and digital media, and employ standards and technologies for business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce websites.The programme is divided into two levels:



The first level of this course is covered in 36 contact hours while the second is covered in 42 contact hours



The following is a list of topics that will be covered during the CIW Web Design Professional programme:

CIW Web Design Specialist

  • Managing the Web site development process, developing a Web strategy with goals and tactics to support it, and implementing techniques such as mind mapping and the site metaphor
  • Identifying and implementing Web design concepts, including page layout, multimedia, font and color selection, graphic images, audience usability, file hierarchy and navigation
  • Choosing and implementing basic Web technologies, such as X/HTML tables, frames metadata, and Cascading Style Sheets
  • Using Web production applications and tools to create and manage pages and sites, create animated GIF’s, edit graphic image files, and create multimedia files
  • Comparing in-house Web site hosting to hosting with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Application Service Provider (ASP), and publishing sites to the Web using various tools and techniques

  CIW E-Commerce Specialist

  • Evaluation of an e-commerce site to maximize audience usability.
  • Developing and hosting a e-commerce site using instant store front services and stand-alone e-commerce software.
  • Implementing e-commerce based learning solutions.
  • Implementing inventory and fulfillment strategies for an e-commerce site.
  • Developing a knowledge base.
  • Securing e-commerce transactions.
  • Securing an e-commerce site.
  • Identifying legal and governmental issues in e-commerce.
  • Implementing effective marketing for an e-commerce site.
  • Implementing strategies for effective customer service and managing customer relationships in e-commerce operations

Computer Literacy

There is an administration fee of $150 to be paid when registering. The deadline to register is one week before the start date of the class after which a late administration fee of $175 will be charged.

The credit price will apply if you wish to pay a down payment and installments. The down payment is 60% of the credit price plus the administration fee. The remainder is paid in installments before the end of the course.
