Programme Brief

The City and Guilds Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning was designed for persons wishing to enter the air conditioning industry. 

This qualification will provide the skills and experience needed for you to carry out your role within the industry and is therefore an excellent starting point for anyone seeking a career as an air condition technician.

This programme provides a range of refrigeration and air conditioning skills by combining both practical and theoretical training. Some of the topics covered include installing refrigeration systems to national standards, carrying out pre-commissioning tests, carrying out fault diagnostics and repairing defective systems. Assessment is undertaken through a combination of practical assignments and written multiple choice examinations.

Graduates of this Level 2 IVQ Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning qualification will obtain an internationally recognized Diploma from City & Guilds of London Institute.

Registration is currently OPEN.

The City and Guilds Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning programme will run from May to December 2018. Classes are scheduled to begin in May and will be completed by the end of November. Examinations will take place during the first two (2) weeks of December.

Classes are offered at our San Fernando and Champs Fleurs campuses.

This qualification is assessed by a combination of online/written examinations and practical assignments.

To achieve the Level 2 IVQ Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, learners must complete the following:

  • Basic Construction Skills Principles (6161-002)
  • Basic Construction Skills Practice – Electrical Installation Basic Skills (6161 -107)
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 2 Principles (6161-036)
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 2 Practice (6161-136)

Practical Assessments: This unit covers the skills required to enable a candidate to apply basic tools skills to set out and install simple domestic single phase circuits.

Multiple-choice assessment (2.5 hours) based on the following learning outcomes:

Practical Assessments: This unit covers the skills required to enable a candidate to apply basic tools skills to set out, fabricate, install and test refrigeration systems.
