Food Processing and Preservation with an Introduction to Food Science designed for individuals who seek to understand the science behind popular food preservation methods and are interested in making value added products using local produce.
This course will introduce students to Food Science and apply its theories to various methods of food preservation.
On completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the role of Food Science in history and everyday life
- Understand the principles of Safe Food Handling
- Understand how principles of Food Science are applied to preserve fohttp://www.sbcs.edu.tt/wp-admin/update-core.phpods using heat, acidity (pH), Salt, Water Activity etc.
- Apply these principles to the preservation of Local Produce
- Apply Safe Food Handling Practices to a product of one’s choice using HACCP principles
- Appreciate the difference between helpful and harmful microbes in Food Processing

Once CITE verifies the deposit, final registration details will be forwarded to the student.
