Economic Principles
This Postgraduate Diploma will provide you with a thorough understanding of the economic principles of market economies and the basic quantitative techniques that economists use for analysing them. You will follow high level undergraduate courses which will provide an excellent preparation if you are considering taking the MSC Financial Economics or Financial Management programmes.
Entry Requirements
You should have a recognised first degree with good grades in any subject or a recognised professional qualification. It is not necessary for you to have studied economics or a quantitative subject before. Obtaining the Postgraduate Diploma in Economics Principles with good grades is a route for entering the MSc Financial Economics and MSc Financial Management programmes.
Programme Content
You will Study four (4) compulsory courses:
- Microeconomic Theory and Applications
- Macroeconomic Principles and Issues
- International Economics
- Mathematics and Statistics for Economics

Duration Of Programme
A minimum of one year; maximum registration of five years
Assessments
Each course is assessed by:
- Two assignments
- A three hour examination held in the October examination period
Each assignment consists of compulsory questions or an essay-based topic, which should be answered in no more than 2500 words. Assignments and examinations are weighted 30:70
