BSc. (Hons) Computing and Information Systems Programme

In order to obtain the BSc. Computing and Information Systems (Honours) degree, five (5) core courses must be completed together with two (2) optional courses.  The choice of options allows one to attain a specialism, please note, however, that the title of the degree remains the same, regardless of the options chosen.  The specialism is not reflected on the degree certificate; however, your transcript will state in detail the courses you covered.

Entry Requirements

ABE Advanced Diploma in BIS. NOTE: *ONLY students of SBCS doing ABE BIS Adv Dip will be allowed to begin tuition for the BSc while waiting on results for a maximum of two (2) subjects

IMIS Higher Diploma or IDPM Higher Diploma

Associate Degree or HND in Computer Science from NIHERST

ACP Advanced Diploma (credit average)

NCC Advanced Diploma

ROYTEC's Associate Degree in ISM

EDEXCEL  BTEC HND in Computing (General)

UTT Diploma in Computing

EDEXCEL BTEC HND in Computing and Systems Developement

Aims and Objectives

• Demonstrate a sound understanding of the main areas of the body of knowledge within their programme of study, with an ability to exercise critical judgment across a range of issues;
• Critically analyse and apply a range of concepts, principles and practice of the subject in an appropriate manner in the context of loosely defined scenarios, showing effecive judgement in the selection and use of tools and techniques;
• produce work involving problem identification, the analysis, the design and development of a system, with accompanying documentation. The work will show problem solving and evaluation skills, draw upon supporting evidence and demonstrate good understanding of the need for quality.
• Demonstrate transferable skills with an ability to show organised work as an individual and as a team member and with minimum guidance;
• Apply appropriate practices within a professional and ethical framework and identify mechanisms for continuing professional development and life long learning;
• Explain a wide range of applications based upon the body of knowledge.

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities exist in many computing areas such as:

• IT support and consultancy
• Internet and e-commerce applications
• Graduates can expect to work as independent consultants or in teams with other computer professionals to build and support modern computing systems.

Duration Of Programme

This qualification can be earned within twelve (12) months on a full time and part-time basis.

An additional six (6) months tuition is provided for those students who wish to complete the programme in eighteen (18) months.

• Original documents, your completed original transcripts and completion letter along with three (3) photocopies.
• Either original birth certificate, national ID or passport (2 photocopies)
