Technician Diploma in Applied Telecommunications Systems
The Diploma level is suitable for someone who has already learned the basic skills and who now wants to learn a broader range of skills. It is appropriate for someone who may have to supervise others, or who is preparing for higher education (eg. At university)
Entry Requirements
Normal Entry Route:
- City & Guilds International Certificate or other recognized qualifications
Mature Entry Route:
- Twenty-one (21) years or older and four (4) O'Level passes inclusive of Mathematics and English
Assessments
Technician Diploma in Applied Telecommunication Systems
To obtain the Technician Diploma in Applied Telecommunication Systems, candidates must be successful in the following assessments:
- 2730-02-011 Fundamentals of Electronic Communication 2 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-012 Communications Systems and Digital Networks 2 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-013 Fundamentals of Electronic Communication 3 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-014 Communication Systems and Digital Networks 3 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-015 Telecommunications Systems Practice 2/3
Candidates must also be successful in either:
- 2730-02-016 Radio Systems (written paper which last three hours) and
- 2730-02-017 Radio Systems Practice
Or
- 2730-02-018 Programming Principles (written paper which lasts three hours) and
- 2730-02-019 Programming Principles Practice
The practical assignments are carried out during the semester and should be finished before the date of the written examination. A total of ten (10) practical assignments need to be completed.
Technician Diploma in Telecommunications Systems Theory
No practical assignments are required for this award. To obtain the Technician Diploma in Telecommunications Systems Theory, candidates must be successful in all the following assessments.
- 2730-02-011 Fundamentals of Electronic Communication 2 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-012 Communications Systems and Digital Networks 2 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-013 Fundamentals of Electronic Communication 3 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-014 Communication Systems and Digital Networks 3 (written paper which last three hours)
- 2730-02-015 Telecommunications Systems Practice 2/3
Candidates must also be successful in either:
- 2730-02-016 Radio Systems (written paper which last three hours) and
- 2730-02-017 Radio Systems Practice
Or
- 2730-02-018 Programming Principles (written paper which lasts three hours) and
- 2730-02-019 Programming Principles Practice
