International Students

SBCS welcomes students from across the globe to study at any one of our state of the art campuses. We offer students the opportunity to study for globally recognized and industry-relevant UK and USA qualifications in 21st century designed learner-centric ecosystems.

CARICOM and International students, please note a Student Permit is required prior to commencing classes at SBCS in Trinidad and Tobago. We suggest you arrive in the country at least one (1) week before the scheduled start date of your classes to apply for a Student Permit via the Immigration Division of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago as there is currently no online process.

BEFORE ARRIVAL

The following documents are required by the Immigration Division and should be organized prior to your arrival:

  • A Letter of Responsibility
  • Evidence of funds / financial support
    • Own bank statement OR Bank statement of sponsor & Copy of sponsor’s ID
  • Copies of Academic Documents

A ‘Letter of Interest’ can also be made available for you showing provisional acceptance into SBCS.

ON ARRIVAL

Please visit the Student Services Department at the Champs Fleurs campus who will assist you through the application process. However, you must visit the Immigration Division of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago located at #116 Frederick St, Port of Spain to apply for your Student Permit in person.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO STUDY IN TRINIDAD WITHOUT A STUDENT PERMIT?

Students who require a Student Permit

  • Prospective students awaiting residency
  • Prospective students with CSME Certificates issued outside of Trinidad and Tobago

Students who do not require a Student Permit

  • Prospective students with CSME Certificates issued by Trinidad and Tobago
  • Prospective students with CSME Certificates issued outside of Trinidad and Tobago pursuing short courses

Points to Note:

  • Prospective students who must apply for Student Permits are only allowed to pursue Full-time courses.
  • Prospective students who must apply for Student Permits but are awaiting residency are allowed to study Full-time or Part-time courses.
  • Prospective students who have a CSME Certificate from Trinidad and Tobago are eligible for Full-time or Part-time courses of any length.

Is the course you are choosing to pursue available in your country of origin? If yes, please be advised that the Immigration Division can reject your application if you do not have a valid reason for wanting to pursue studies in Trinidad and Tobago.
