Celebrating 30 Years

Published: 12:52 PM on February 14, 2017

On Monday, February 13th, 2017, SBCS celebrated its 30th anniversary. Below is an abridged version of the message delivered to staff and lecturers by Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Robin R. Maraj.

“Thirty years is a long time in the life of an organisation and it is a good juncture to pause and reflect on our achievements. Since 1987, over 6,000 students have graduated with an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree or professional qualification from SBCS, while more than 40,000 students have completed SBCS training programmes in a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to information Technology, Business, Engineering, Media and Graphic design.

I am confident that we have had a positive impact on the lives of our alumni who use their globally recognized qualifications to seek jobs at home and abroad, in both the private and public sectors. Each of our students has had a transformative experience that has gone beyond academic success; one that helps them to evolve into better individuals so that they can build better communities and nations.

SBCS Global Learning Institute at 30 remains a great place to work and learn and I, like the rest of the SBCS community, look forward to the great work that lies ahead of us, expressed most aptly by our Corporate Mantra:

At SBCS, we have but one overarching goal, which is to deliver an excellent service to our students;

At a profit, if we can,

At a loss, if we must,

But always excellence!

 In closing, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one who chose to work, teach or study with SBCS over the past 30 years; you rank among our greatest supporters and inspiration.

Thank you.”

Here are some highlights of the day’s activities from across the four (4) campuses.
