New Library and Study Facilities unveiled at Champs Fleurs campus

It is both an honour and privilege to celebrate the opening of the newly redesigned SBCS Champs Fleurs Library at its location in our new wing. This contemporary facility stands as a milestone and achievement for SBCS and was officially opened on the Wednesday, February 13, 2013, the 26th anniversary of SBCS.

A library is such an important resource for learning. It is often said that the library is the heart of a school body. Norman Cousins said that, “a library is the delivery room for the birth of ideas, a place where history comes to life.” At SBCS though, it can also be accurately portrayed as “the brain”.

This new facility caters for a variety of patrons, from those who may be just making a quick stop to review reference material, to others who may spend hours utilizing all the library has to offer.

The new library holds over three thousand, five hundred books in its collection, has a maximum seating capacity of forty-five (45) persons and houses a computer lab for eight (8) persons. To add a softer side to the library, a lounge area for reading, designed for those who wish to relax and simply escape in a good book, is also an added feature. Adjacent to the library is another feature of the new wing, the study room. This new study room can hold a maximum of sixty (60) persons and is a place where students can retreat from the noise of their demanding lives and study in quietude and comfort.

At SBCS our mission is to deliver industry relevant tertiary education and training, using a learner centric approach with staff, facilities and courseware of the highest quality in the transformation of our human resource into the region’s most valuable natural resource. Our new library speaks to this mission – designed to be welcoming to all who enter, it provides our students not only with the access to knowledge, but also the comfort and convenience of a well-designed facility that encourages learning and facilitates relaxation.
