Orientation sessions for the University of London, BSc Business Administration and BSc/Diploma in Computing and Information Systems programmes were held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Champs Fleurs campus. These sessions were opened by Ms. Patrice Belfon, Manager, Central Academic Administration who welcomed students to SBCS and stressed the importance of networking and utilizing the support services of SBCS. Ms. Belfon was joined by the Student Services team who highlighted the exciting non-academic activities and events, designed to enrich the student experience. Students were invited to participate in their suite of support services including counselling, academic and career guidance, career development/job placement programmes and the student council.
BSc Business Administration alumna and SBCS Manager, Ms. Malini Bridglalsingh, along with Mr. Shastri Singh, BSc in Computing and Information Systems graduate of 2014, addressed the students providing valuable advice on studying, time management, group work and exam preparation. They shared their experiences as University of London graduates; the relevance of the degree content to their current jobs and opportunities for career advancement.
The final presentation was facilitated by the University of London team on programme regulations, attendance requirements, SBCS’ e-learning system (Moodle) and the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The session closed with a competition where students were rewarded with University of London marketing material for answering questions about the programme, followed by a tour of the campus facilities.
