SBCS San Fernando 2014 Career/Open Day

Published: 12:00 AM on March 08, 2014

The SBCS San Fernando Campus hosted its first ever in-house Secondary School Career/Open Day, on Friday, February 14th,  2014. This event was held exclusively for fifth and sixth form students from secondary schools in the southern region.  Students were all accompanied by their teachers.

The day started with a very interactive welcome presentation entitled ‘Why Choose SBCS’  which was well received by the students . Next was a tour of the campus which included demonstrations by our lecturers in the Engineering and IT labs. The highlight of the tour was the Recreation Room where students had an opportunity to play a quick game of pool.

The students received one-on-one Career Guidance sessions with our Course Administrators and Lecturers on the programmes offered, including the University of London’s BSc Business Administration (academic direction by Royal Holloway), Association of Business Executive (ABE),  EDEXCEL BTEC CSD/ Media/Graphics and City & Guilds EEET.

All the academic booths included  games and activities that had our visiting students totally engaged. In addition, students also got an opportunity to meet and talk with current students and members of the Student Council gave them a real insight into student life here at the San Fernando Campus.

This event will now be a permanent fixture on SBCS’ San Fernando Campus calendar.
