On Saturday, June 11, 2011, senior staff of SBCS held a meeting with our Association of Business Executives (ABE) lecturers, administrators and student representatives from each campus, to discuss the new ABE structure and the delivery of the programme. Lecturers made several valuable suggestions regarding the delivery of the programme including use of groups and tutorials in the classroom, revision classes and more collaboration by lecturers based on specialist areas.
The student representatives raised several issues. The students commended SBCS on the quality of the lecturers, the physical facilities and for ensuring that the library was opened for longer hours, including Sundays and during the examination period. Students also commented positively on the service provided by the ABE Administration unit and the Student Services unit. At SBCS, we greatly value students’ feedback, both positive and negative, and this was emphasised when we explained to the students and the lecturers the importance of the evaluation procedures to assist with personal growth and identification of any critical issues by the students.
The meeting was very participative and informative. The lecturers and SBCS have shown their commitment to the continued improvement of the delivery of the programme. We thank the lecturers and the students for taking the time out of their busy schedule to be present at the meeting.
The next meeting of the ABE lecturers will be scheduled in six (6) months with smaller team meetings based on specialist areas to be scheduled over the next month.
