Representatives from the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Business School (EBS) visited Trinidad during the period Friday, March 1 – Monday, March 4, 2013, for two big events held at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain.

Over 900 guests gathered for the Alumni Cocktail Reception, the first of the two events, on Friday, March 01, 2013 where the EBS team mingled with their graduates, graduands and continuing students.

Then, on Sunday, March 03, 2013 the air was filled with excitement as Professor Keith Lumsden, Founder and Academic Director of the Edinburgh Business School, Professor Steven Chapman, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University, Dr. Robin Maraj, Executive Director of SBCS and many others celebrated with the 100 + new Master graduates at the EBS Graduation Ceremony 2013.

Selected SBCS staff were present at both functions as they assisted with the issuing of badges and the robing of gowns and hoods on graduation day, among other things.

Ms. Gemma Gwynne-Stevenson, EBS Quality Manager, and their Marketing Manager, Ms. Sally Mac Leod visited SBCS’ Champs Fleurs and Trincity campuses on Monday, March 04, 2013, which commenced with a meeting held at Champs Fleurs, with Ms. Selina Lewis, Supervisor of Academic and Administrative Support at our Corporate Education Centre. This was followed by a tour of the newly extended facilities at the campus, conducted by Messieurs Navin Lallan (Manager, Central Academic Scheduling & Operations) and Kevon Allen (Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance). The visit then progressed to our Trincity campus, where Ms. Alicia Cameron, Campus Manager and Course Administrator /Quality Assurance Liaison Officer, Ms. Neila Dhanbir showcased the campus’ facilities, which included tours of the Apple Lab, the newly designed study room and the soon-to-be commissioned Art Studio which is being outfitted for the BA and HND in Graphic Design programmes.

The relationship between SBCS and EBS spans some twenty (20) years; a relationship that to date has successfully produced well over 1000 graduates, including the 100+ newly-minted MBA holders.

By all accounts, this year’s EBS visit was both productive and very interesting; we look forward to our partners gracing our shores again.
