On Friday, November 23, 2012, senior management and administrative staff of SBCS held a Programme Committee meeting with our Edinburgh Business School (EBS), Heriot-Watt University, lecturers and class representatives. Forty-one persons were in attendance for what was the last EBS Programme Committee meeting for 2012. The major goal of this meeting was to provide a forum for staff, lecturers and students to discuss the quality and delivery of the programme, and offer recommendations on ways to improve.
Information on the pass rates for each course was shared with lecturers, and they in turn shared with staff information on the their teaching and learning experiences in their respective classes, in addition to recommending initiatives for improving both pass rates, as well as the overall learning experience. The students for their part, gave recommendations that covered a range of topics; from menu options in the cafeteria to the structure of content delivered in the classroom. SBCS administrators then gave insight into the updates to the partner network that the University will be soon be launching – updates that will benefit both lecturer and learners, and enhance the overall experience on the programme.
In general, the meeting was quite successful. As part of his closing address, Executive Director, Dr. Robin Maraj thanked all in attendance for their contributions at the event. Further to this, he reiterated SBCS’ commitment to not only consider the suggestions raised but also, where appropriate, implement in a timely manner those initiatives that will directly improve the learning experience offered to our learners. To this end, the feedback received, will be further developed by SBCS’ Corporate Education Centre (CEC) ; our premier advanced management education centre, overseeing the delivery of higher level management and management related academic programmes, in collaboration with world class universities.
