The SBCS San Fernando campus held its annual Students’ Divali Programme on Thursday, October 16th, 2014. The event was hosted by two students, Mr. Aaron Bahadur and Mr. Anthony Sahadeo. Ms. Samantha Rampaul and Mr. Mahindra Ramdhan provided entertainment with music, song and a Divali presentation. Students were also treated to an electrifying Modern East Indian dance performed by Rachel Ramdeo as well as decorated hands from the on-site Mehndi artist.
To add to the celebrations, students took to the SBCS catwalk, modelling elegant Indian wear. The burst of coloured saris, shalwars and kurtas dazzled the eyes of all. However, ABE L4 Business Management student Kimberly Ramoutar won the hearts of students and was crowned SBCS San Fernando Divali Queen.
Our students also had fun participating in the Divali themed activities:
• The Sari Wrap Winners – Aaliyah Emmanuel and Saavanee Maharaj
• The Divali Dhoti Activity – Denzel Paul
• Divali Art Centre – Kimberly Khan and Alan Samsundar won with the best decorated deya
The San Fernando Divali programme was not only entertaining; it also showcased the rich cultural heritage that has been gifted to our country. The event came to a close with the distribution of sweets to both our full time and part time students.
Shubh Divali to all!
