On Wednesday, November 23, 2011, Student Services hosted the first workshop entitled “Job Search” in its Get Work Ready Programme at its Champs Fleurs Campus. This programme has been developed to equip our students with the skills necessary to be successful not just at the interview stage but to be able to function professionally in the work place. Mridula Seemungal (Senior Manager of Central Academic Administration) opened the session with a welcome and a brief overview of the programme and bid the students the best of luck in the workshops and their pursuits in finding the right job.
The first workshop “Job Search” was presented by Carolyn Allen (Human Resource Generalist). It was an informative and highly interactive session which covered areas such as exploring the job market, how to do a job search, utilizing various career services such as career counselors and recruitment services, networking. Students were also shown how to maximize the use of the Internet for job hunting.
The first workshop had a large turnout, with fifty students attending. After the presentation, the students engaged in several interactive activities relating to the job search. The students were all very receptive to the activities and presentation and several commented that they were looking forward to the next session in the following week.
This programme will be implemented at the other Campuses in 2012.
