SBCS Global Learning Institute celebrates with and congratulates the University of Sunderland (UOS) for being a ‘Silver’ award recipient under the newly introduced UK Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The TEF is a new measure introduced by the UK Government to recognise and reward excellent learning and teaching in Higher Education in the UK. In achieving the Silver Award, Sunderland ranked alongside other high performing regional institutions such as the Universities of York, Warwick, Sheffield, Manchester, Bristol, and Durham, and also leading institutions in London – University College London, City University of London, King’s College London, and Brunel University.

UOS Vice-Chancellor, Shirley Atkinson expounded that the Silver rating is awarded for delivering high-quality teaching learning and outcomes for students, and for consistently exceeding rigorous national quality requirements in higher education. For their submission, Sunderland emphasised and leveraged favourably the groundbreaking work they do as a global institution, being a champion of social mobility, and their evolving reputation as the institution of choice for prospective employers looking for graduate talent.

SBCS is proud to be associated with the University of Sunderland in delivering excellence in teaching and learning; a relationship that spans 16 years (and counting). The prestigious ranking adds to the list of recent accomplishments for Sunderland, which also achieved excellent outcomes in the Guardian Good University Guide published in May 2017. The University out-performed not only local competitors but national institutions across a number of subject areas including, Business, Tourism, Nursing, Education and Engineering (where they are ranked 1st for course satisfaction).

Well done!
