Course Brief

This completely new course will be launched later in 2020.

In this course contemporary accounting issues will be covered, focussing on financial analysis, earnings management and the evolving international accounting standards. In finance, there is detailed focus on the core areas of; investment appraisal, financing of the firm and payout policy and this course examines current practical issues in these areas.  The course will also identify the risks that companies face and how to manage them.

Being able to analyse and value a company is a specialist skill and this is covered in depth with the use of practical examples from the markets together with spreadsheet modelling.

    This ACTT-recognized MSc. Financial Management programme encompasses five core courses and four elective courses in Finance. All courses are industry-relevant and practical in nature and taught by excellent and experienced lecturers.

    Careers in finance depend upon a strong understanding of the foundations of finance, investment behaviour and the dynamic nature of finance, and the MSc. will provide a strong preparation for a career in a wide variety of positions within the finance profession.

    ACCA members may attain exemptions when they matriculate for the MSc. in Financial Management or the MBA programme offered by Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.

    Entitlement to credit transfer or exemption will be assessed on an individual basis.
