Course Brief
Data Science is an interdisciplinary subject, combining topics from Computer Science and Mathematics. It has a significant presence in many areas of science and technology. This module will provide the theoretical and practical foundations of Data Science, considered as an academic discipline. The module will equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills for successfully solving wide range of real-world Data Science related problems. The module will provide students with the knowledge and the skills necessary for successfully pursuing a career in a wide range of Data Science related roles, both in academia and industry.

- Apply mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques to analyse datasets, implement data science workflows, and solve real-world problems.
- Design and implement practical data science solutions, including data visualisation, statistical analysis, and the application of machine learning algorithms, using appropriate tools and programming environments.

- Machine Learning, applications, algorithms, supervised, unsupervised learning.
Students explore core concepts in Data Science. Teaching will support the development of practical and theoretical skills through problem-solving, tool-based learning, and applied case studies. They are encouraged to work collaboratively outside class to practise coding, share feedback on solutions and discuss data science challenges

The BSc (Hons) Computing programme with specialisms in network systems or information systems is offered by SBCS Global Learning Institute, in collaboration with the University of Greenwich (UK). It is recognized by the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) and is the next step after completing any one of the qualifications listed below:
