Course Brief

This module provides students with further understanding of developing a full stack (XAMPP) web system. Closer attention will be given to HTTP, CSS and more advanced PHP concepts such as OOPs, user authentication and password security.

  1. Critical understanding of the HTTP request/response mechanism and trouble shoot common error codes.
  2. Explore, implement and manipulate CSS front-end frameworks and gain insights into advanced CSS selectors.
  3. Apply underlying knowledge to secure PHP websites with role-based user authentication.

An introduction to HTTP headers and the request/response mechanism. Common HTTP error codes. CSS selectors. CSS frameworks. PHP objects and classes. PHP user authentication. Password hashing. Basic web security concerns.

This will be taught using a combination of lectures and lab sessions.

  • BSc (Hons) Computing

    The BSc (Hons) Computing programme with specialisms in network systems or information systems is offered by SBCS Global Learning Institute, in collaboration with the University of Greenwich (UK). It is recognized by the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) and is the next step after completing any one of the qualifications listed below:
