Programme Brief

 

The Assured Certificate in Advanced Electrical Installation was designed for persons aspiring to become an electrician or a certified wireman.  This qualification forms the basis of knowledge for all modern domestic and commercial electrical installation work, and is therefore an excellent starting point for anyone seeking a career as an electrician.

This programme provides a range of electrical installation skills by combining both practical and theoretical training. Some of the topics covered include installing electrical systems to national standards, single phase and three phase circuits, inspection and testing of domestic installations and diagnosing and repairing faults. Assessment is undertaken through a combination of practical assignments and written structured examinations.

The Assured Certificate in Advanced Electrical Installation programme was designed by SBCS GLI and is quality assured by City and Guilds of London. Certificates will be issued by City and Guilds. Graduates can approach the Electrical Inspectorate for consideration to sit for the Wireman Licence examination.

HOW TO REGISTER

Step 1  – Confirm your eligibility. Forward soft copies of the following to CITE@sbcs.edu.tt

  • Original certificate and transcript or official transcript and completion letter from the awarding educational institution
  • National ID or Passport
  • For students with qualifications more than five years old, a resume listing positions held and key responsibilities will be also required.

Administration must confirm of your eligibility before you apply.

 

Step 2 – Complete the Online Programme Registration Form and click submit.

Once the form has been completed, please proceed to make your payment via any of the following options below.

Step 4 –WI Pay (Credit Card)If you wish to utilize this method, please forward an email to the Centre for Information Technology and Engineering indicating if you would be paying the full cost or whether you would like to access any of our payment plan options. Once this is confirmed, an invoice will then be forwarded via email.

This qualification will be assessed by a combination of written examinations and practical assignments.

To achieve the SBCS Assured Certificate in Advanced Electrical Installation, learners must complete the following units:

Practical Assessments: This unit covers the skills required to enable a candidate to apply basic tools skills to:

  1. Install various electrical systems to national standards
  2. Carry out inspection and testing of single phase domestic installations
  3. Diagnose, locate and repair faults within an electrical installation.
  4. Safely undertake alterations to an existing installation
