Programme Brief

This course is an introduction to the processing of payroll in the organization regardless of its size. All aspects of the payroll function would be examined including computations, accounting, and statutory compliance. A review will be conducted of the typical journals to be processed by month, as well, year-end balancing of payroll reports.

 

Target Audience

This programme is designed for anyone responsible for the processing or supervision of the payroll function in the organization as well as individuals wishing to learn about basic payroll processing and preparation of entries for same.

 

Pre-requisite

Basic Computerized Spreadsheet Skills

 

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Know the relevant elements of the income tax legislation, regulations and HR practices.
  • Be able to compute employee pay.
  • Be able to compute individual income tax liabilities.
  • Know how to comply with employer payroll requirements.
  • Know how to account for payroll including the preparation of accounting entries for Gross pay, deductions, and Net pay.
  • Understand the National Insurance system and calculation of deductions.
  • Balancing year to date data, to ensure the proper calculation of TD4 certificate as well as TD1 requirements for the year.
  • Preparing the budget for salaries and wages for forthcoming year.

Step 2: Once the form has been completed, please proceed to make your payment via the following options:

Option 2: WiPay (Credit Card) – If you wish to utilize this method, please forward an email to CTC-CF@sbcs.edu.tt indicating if you would be paying the full cost or whether you would like to access our payment plan option. Once this is confirmed, an invoice will then be forwarded via email.

Option 3: Payment of TT$2,000.00 (early bird TT$1,815.00 until 29-Dec-24) can be made via direct deposit / online bank transfer. Please click here for further instructions regarding the banking options available.

Step 3: Complete the Online Payment Update / Notification form – Please ensure a copy of the deposit slip / transaction slip / e-receipt is included when submitting your information.

 

Step 4: Applicable to Payment Plan Students: Sign and return your Enrolment Ticket.

Do note that the completed Enrolment Ticket is SBCS’ legally required document confirming that fees are outstanding. All further communication and instructions will follow once this step is completed.
