Course Brief
This unit provides learners with an overview of the contemporary contexts and practices which support design related activities. Learners will undertake research into various forms of creative artefacts and processes in addition to principles and elements of design. With the Design Development Cycle as a key motif, the development of skills to research, analyze, evaluate, with the goal of creating design-related artefacts, serves as an essential aspect of unit content.

On completing this course successfully learners will be able to:
- Provide an account of key concepts in design theory
- Be able to engage in visual research and brainstorming
- Be able to present relevant, design-related research
- Diploma in Media and Graphics
This Pearson and ACTT approved foundation programme is geared toward CXC/CSEC graduates as an alternative to CAPE, 6th Form or Level 3 study. It provides learners with the opportunity to pursue a combined, higher-level qualification in Media and Graphic Design as a pathway to undergraduate study.
Graduates of this foundation programme can progress directly to Pearson’s Higher National Diploma (HND) in Creative Media Production or Art and Design and upon successful completion be eligible for the final year of an honours degree in Mass Communications or Graphic Design from the University of Sunderland.
