Programme Brief
This course is designed to equip participants with the confidence, knowledge and written plan to start or put structure to their part-time or full-time food & beverage business. It covers everything from the qualities of a successful entrepreneur; the documentation needed to operate; and the overall planning of the business. In the end, the student will be able to deliver a convincing written and verbal presentation of the plan for the business.
An e-certificate will be issued at the end.
Target Audience
- Persons who already have a full-time food & beverage business but need to put in place more systems and procedures to maximize profits
- Persons who have been selling food / beverage items part time and need to put more structure to the operations
- Persons who have been wanting to start a small food / beverage business either full-time or part-time and would benefit from receiving the guidance to develop a plan

Administration fee: US $23 / TT $150
Registration deadline: One week before the scheduled start date.
Payment Plan: 60% down payment on tuition to start the class, with the balance due a month after classes begin.

- After submitting the form, please proceed to make your payment using one of the options below:
Option 1:
You can make a full payment of TT$2,400.00 (2,250 + 150) via direct or in-bank deposit. Specific instructions for the deposit can be found here.

Use Republic Bank E-Pay (Credit Card and/or Debit Card option). If you wish to utilise this method, please forward an email to [email protected] indicating if you would be paying the full cost or whether you would like to access the payment plan option. Once this is confirmed, an invoice will then be forwarded via email.

3. After making the payment, please submit the payment notification form via the payment notification form.
4. Once CUBP verifies your payment, you will receive final registration details. All relevant information about accessing online sessions will be sent to you via email within 3-5 working days.

On the completion of this programme, participants should:
- Identify five characteristics of an entrepreneur and recognize general challenges that must be overcome.
- Name four types of food & beverage businesses.
- List the statutory requirements to operate a business in Trinidad and Tobago and explain the importance of other requirements that are not mandatory.
- Create a business (hypothetical or real) and define the brand.
- Write a description of the food business created, explaining the 5 W’s (what, why, who, when, where).
- List start-up costs.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of food cost percentages.
- Discuss various pricing strategies.
- Compare the various ways to market the business.
- Use tools to create marketing content.
- Influence people to believe that the business is viable and that they should support it. These people include self and potential investors, partners, clients and employees.
- Evaluate the business ideas of others to determine if they are viable
